The College of Arts and Sciences is home to a number of interdisciplinary programs, all of which have students taking courses in a variety of departments rather than just a single department. This information fair will highlight seven of these programs, including the following: American Culture & Difference; Environmental Studies; Film Studies; Justice and Peace Studies; Museum Studies; Sustainability; and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies.
Students who wish to explore a subject area with a "wide lens" perspective are ideally suited for such interdisciplinary programs; all programs offer at least a minor track (usually five or six classes) and a few even offer the opportunity to complete a major. Many of these projgrams engage substantially with social justice issues, focusing on ideas related to race, class, gender, sexuality, the environment, and how those ideas are represented in art, popular culture, film, and more. At their heart, all of these programs, in their own way, focus on the concept of the common good.
At this information fair, each program will have a table staffed with two students taking coursework in that program that can answer your questions as well as have literature about that program available to pick up. So that no one goes without lunch, free pizza and beverages will be available.
We hope you can join us!
